FAMILY SPLIT UP AFTER BEING TOLD HOTEL BECAME 'ADULT-ONLY' HOURS BEFORE ARRIVAL

A family say their holiday has been 'destroyed' after part of their group was sent to a different hotel because of the age of their kids.

The Vaghela family jetted out to Morocco to celebrate four birthdays, and were looking forward to enjoying the warm weather, the beach and a relaxing time at White Beach Resort Taghazout.

It was only when they arrived at the hotel that they learned it had become an 'adult's only' establishment just a few weeks before - months after they booked the £8,400 Love Holidays trip in February.

Hotel staff explained the 12 and 14-year-olds in the group couldn't stay, so Dipak and Krita Vaghela headed off to a new hotel several kilometres down the coast with them.

The couple checked their emails and found they'd been told of the new 'adult only' status while they were in the air flying to Morocco, hours before they made it to the hotel. Hotel staff told them other families had also been turned away, Krita claimed.

"If Love Holidays was already aware why wait till the day we are travelling, whilst in flight, to send an email to the group with children stating their hotel has been changed?" the Leicester mum told the Mirror.

"This is totally unacceptable. This has really destroyed our plans and ruined what was meant to be a perfect first family holiday."

The family had been looking forward to their first big holiday together and had pulled out all the stops to make the get-together as perfect as possible.

The White Beach Resort Taghazout seemed the ideal place, as it's located right next to the beach, offers all-inclusive packages, and has a big outdoor pool.

Everything looked primed for a great holiday away in the historical east Moroccan fishing town, which is known for its brilliant surfing beaches, palm-lined gorges and waterfalls.

They had no idea that the age of their youngest members would put an abrupt halt to their dreams of hanging out together in the warm Moroccan spring weather around the pool.

"We landed at 5.40pm, we received the email at 4.29pm, but we had no internet access until we got to the hotel," Krita continued.

"Apparently it’s because they are under 18. We were told this was enforced from May 1. The hotel staff have also informed us of the same situation occurring to other families over the last couple of weeks who have booked through Love Holidays and have had to be moved.

"We would all like for this matter to be resolved as we do not wish to stay at this hotel and want to celebrate as our family group as intended."

After several members of their party attempted to contact Love Holidays, they received a seemingly generic response advising them to "speak directly to the hotel reception, as they can usually resolve the issue once they know your concerns", it was claimed.

The email made no mention of their specific problem and did not suggest it could be resolved in any way, leaving the family separated at the time of publication.

“We're really sorry to hear of Ms Vaghela's experience and are working hard to resolve the situation for the whole party," Love Holidays told the Mirror.

"We’re in touch with Ms Vaghela to support her during this time and are also reviewing our processes with our hotel suppliers to avoid instances like this happening again.”
